Immaculate Conception Church

Education/Formation

Sacramental Programs:  These are handled through the Religious Education program, Mater Dei School, Bishop Heelan High School and the RCIA process.

Religious Education:  Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, with curriculums appropriate for their age and through the leadership of the pastor, young people are instructed and prepared to participate in the sacramental life of the community resulting in a more prayerful, active, Christ-centered faith.

Adult Education:  Scripture study and reflection is available through the Bible Study Group. An occasion to review one’s own understanding of their faith is available by being a mentor for RCIA, confirmation and marriage candidates.

Bible Study:  Evening classes are Tuesday 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at Nativity and morning classes are Thursday, 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception. Classes run September through April.

RCIA Process:  The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is not a program, but a sacramental formation process that prepares individuals for a Catholic way of life. Conversion is at the heart of this way of life. Throughout their journey, with the support of the faith community, the candidates discern their readiness to participate in the Easter sacraments and celebrate full membership.

Baptism Classes (Welcome Your Child):  This program takes place the first Monday of every other month. Contact parish offices to register.

Marriage Sponsor Couple:  This is a format developed for discussion and sharing. A married couple meets with and talks over their experiences and insights with engaged couples preparing for marriage.

Parent School Organization:  Parents of Mater Dei School coordinate the use of volunteers and a variety of activities for students during the school year. Interested persons help individual students, supervise computer use, help teachers and organize other exciting activities.

Yellow Brick Road Child Care Center:  This is a non-profit organization serving the child care needs of the Immaculate Conception community and the Morningside area. The primary goal is to provide quality child care in a secure Christian environment. They foster opportunities for physical, social and emotional growth through play and age appropriate activities.

Day Care hours are available Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:45 PM. The center is located near parks, libraries and other interesting and fun experiences. Adequate staff and safety is always provided.

Summer Program -  Yellow Brick Road does provide year round child care. A diverse schedule of activities will keep children involved and interested.

School Age - Program hours are available the same as the day-care hours. Children attending Mater Dei School Immaculate Conception Center are escorted to and from school. When school has in-services and early school dismissal, children may go to the day care.

T.H.E. Youth Group (“To Heavens End”):  This is comprised of high school age teens from the Morningside Catholic parishes. Serving the church and sharing their talents, this group organizes youth masses, retreats, ski trips and a multitude of other fun and rewarding events.

Birthright:  This organization seeks to promote and sponsor pro-life activities of the Catholic Church, especially regarding the healthy birth of infants and the needs of the mother.
