Immaculate Conception Church Hospitality Prayer What Has the Stewardship Committee Been Up To?
Stewardship Committee
What is Stewardship?
All that we have is given to us by God. Stewardship is simply recognizing this and returning some of God's gifts in the form of time, talent, and treasure. Stewardship is primarily based on a person's need to give in gratitude for what they have been given rather than on the church's need to receive. Stewardship is a way of life, a conversion of the heart that is centered in the Eucharist. It affords us the opportunity to express our appreciation for all that God has Given us.
What Stewardship is not.
Stewardship is not an appeal for funds. It is not quickly implemented nor is it a way of life for everyone. It is not a quick fix to fund a church or school.
The Four Pillars of Stewardship
We can lose parishioners if they are not warmly welcomed. We need to provide a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment for our parishioners and guests to worship in. We cannot form stewards if the pews are empty.
The faithful steward prays daily, especially with prayers of gratitude for what God has blessed them with.
Faith Formation
Educating the mind and forming the heart are necessary steps in the stewards growth.
Service
Service to God and neighbor is something ingrained in the faithful steward. God created us with the desire to give because it is in giving that we receive, in serving that we are served.
Effects of Stewardship
In the fall and winter months of 2007, the Stewardship Committee generated and administered a Parish wide survey to parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish in order to ascertain what it was that parishioners wanted their parish to be. The results of the survey were catalogued, studied, and analyzed. These showed us the strengths and weeknesses of the parish. A synopsis of the results of the survey were published and distributed to parishioners.
One of the focuses of the Stewardship Committe is to attempt to make volunteering and involvement easy for parishioners. It was discussed and decided that we needed a booklet outlining and describing all of the opportunities for involvement at Immaculate Conception Parish. A full color booklet was designed, printed, bound, and distributed to all members of the Parish along with a time and talent sign up sheet. Much of the content of that booklet can be found in this website.
All of the time and talent sheets were sorted, catalogued, and distributed to the appropriate committee chairpersons within the parish. The Stewardship Committee is currently following up with our parish leadership to see how we can assist them with parishioner involvement.
Members of the Stewardship Committee are also responsible for designing and administering this website.
